Above is a breakdown from our local Lexus dealership. Your local dealership may quote the price of a new/rebuilt stereo or amplifier to repair your stereo's "Loss of volume" problem. Below is information that may allow you to "DO IT YOURSELF" repair.

   

Symptom

Cause Needed tools
Loss of volume Water damage, causing mute line to activate Corrosion chemical (spray) and brush
Lexus Car Radio Repair - Lexus Low Volume on Car Stereo Trouble Shooting Instuctions 1) Remove rear seat by pulling up on front edge of seat cushion. At the middle of each seated passenger.
2) Pull rear seat cushion forward releasing seat from seat belt mounts.

NOTE - Disconnecting the orange connector and powering the stereo on will help determine if this is the problem. If your volume comes back, the factory pre-wired cell phone accessory "Mute" line is shorted.

   
Lexus Car Radio Repair - Lexus Low Volume on Car Stereo Trouble Shooting Instuctions 1) At front edge of rear drivers seat, you will notice two connectors.
2) Release trigger on connectors and remove. (Orange connector, pictured here), look closely, there is corrosion build up on the connector.
3) Spray, clean both male and female connectors with brush.

*NOTE - 1) Notice water under rear seat in this picture.
*NOTE - 2) Orange connector shows spots of corrosion.

   
* Also, this problem may be found in the trunk.
1) At the amplifier (Passenger side trunk panel)
2) Where the factory telephone may or may not be installed, behind side trunk panel on drivers side).
CHECK CONNECTORS FOR CORROSION / WATER DAMAGE!
There is another problem with low volume that has come to our attention recently.
If you have the factory installed cellular telephone disconnect it! See if volume returns.
