Ford Escort Car Audio - Stereo and Speaker Remove and Replace

	Ford Escort How to Replace Car Stereo Removal and Aftermarket Installation
	1.1) "Din Tools". Stereo Removal Tools
	2.1) Insert "Din Tools" into openings on both sides of face plate in dash. DO NOT REMOVE STEREO!
	3.1) Under dash, on driver's side is one of the AC control cables.
	4.1) Release trigger at center of cable head to release.
	5.1) Remove car stereo face slightly from dash.
	6.1) At back of car stereo, release triggers on black and gray connectors to release. 6.2) Remove antenna lead from stereo.
	7.1) At AC controls, the vacuum connector can be removed by pulling triggers away from connector to release.
	8.1) At AC controls, release trigger on connector to release.
	9.1) At AC controls, release trigger on connector to release.

How to Install Car Stereo, Removing and Replacing
	How to Install Aftermarket Car Stereo Ford Escort requires kit and wire harness Metra kit 99-5720 Metra wire harness70-5720
	1.1) Remove three knobs from AC control. 1.2) Remove screws at spring bracket from both sides of car stereo and set brackets to side.
	2.1) Release small triggers at base of control.
	3.1) Remove control and mount into provided kit.
	4.1) Remove screw securing center control with with cable.
	5.1) Twist control to release from face. 5.2) Mount control into provided kit.
	6.1) Remove screw securing remaining control.
	7.1) Twist control to release from face. 7.2) Mount control into provided kit.
	8.1) Slide car stereo into kit from front.
	9.1) Side mounting screw holes on car stereo mate to openings on side of kit. 9.2) Install screws provided with car stereo to secure to kit.
	10.1) Remember spring brackets removed in an earlier step?
	11.1) Install side spring brackets
	12.1) Splice wire harness provide with kit to aftermarket car stereo. 12.2) Check installation tips provide with kit and wire harness for rear window defrost switch hook up. 12.3) Install car stereo into dash.

How to Replace Speakers, Removing and Installation
	Ford Escort Front Speaker Removal, Replacement and Installation
	1.1) At top leading edge of door panel, pull center tab from panel pin.
	2.1) Remove entire panel pin.
	3.1) At front lower leading edge of door panel, pull center tab from panel pin. 3.2) Remove entire panel pin.
	4.1) At door handle cavity, gently pry screw cover from screw.
	5.1) Remove exposed screw.
	6.1) Pull door open handle to release back edge of assembly.
	7.1) Pull door open handle away from door to allow front hook on assembly to release. Let this assembly hang in place.
	8.1) Remove screw from arm rest cavity.
	9.1) This may be a difficult step. 9.2) Push door panel in to view clip on window crank. (Remember position of window crank when reinstalling)
	10.1) With a pick tool or needle nose pliers pull clip from window crank to release.
	11.1) Remove window crank from door.
	12.1) Removed window crank and clip.
	13.1) Immediately install clip on to window crank. Window crank can be pushed back onto window crank shaft and will lock into place when reinstalling.
	14.1) Pull bottom edge of door panel from door, all clips will release with pressure. 14.2) Work your way up front and rear sides of door panel releasing remaining clips.
	15.1) Lift back edge of door panel up out of window jam and over door lock.
	16.1) Slightly pull front edge of door panel away from door and up at the same time to release.
	17.1) Feed door open handle assembly through opening in door panel. 17.2) Remove door panel and set door panel to side.
	18.1) Remove screws securing car stereo speaker to door panel.
	19.1) Before installation of door panel, check ground and door panel for any clips that may not have been removed with door panel. Insert panel clips back onto door panel before installing.

	Ford Escort Rear Speaker Removal and Replacement
	1.1) Lower rear seats to down position. 1.2) Lift up center tap on all three clips across leading edge of rear deck.
	2.1) Remove entire clip from panel.
	3.1) At rear brake light, push center tab on clip in.
	4.1) Remove clip from brake light assembly. 4.2) Repeat steps for second clip on brake light assembly.
	5.1) When reinstalling this clip, push center tap back through clip. Install clip, then push center tab flush to lock in place.
	6.1) Remove rear brake light housing.
	7.1) Release trigger on connector to remove.
	8.1) Remove two 10mm bolts from brake light assembly.
	9.1) Remove brake light assembly and set to side.
	10.1) Bow rear deck panel to release end of panel over remaining seat ends.
	11.1) Pull rear deck panel toward front of car, lift rear edge of deck panel up to release over brake light bracket.
	12.1) Remove screws securing speakers to rear deck and remove.
