DIY Troubleshooting Intermittent or No Audio from One Side or All Speakers This troubleshooting guide takes care of 90% of no or intermittent audio problems. For the other 10% see "Tech Note" at bottom of page. |
||
1) Squeeze edges of speaker grill together. This will bow the speaker grill cover.
1) Release back edge of speaker grill cover.
1) Pull speaker grill cover back
to release leading edge and set speaker grill cover to side.
TECH NOTE - two tabs on this speaker grill cover are screwed on. If the screws are loose, the tabs may spin. Move tabs into proper position, tighten screws before installation. |
||
1) Remove four screws securing speaker to ceiling.
TECH NOTE - check speaker connector, wire braid from connector into speaker may unravel. This speaker wire braid can touch the metal framing of the speaker and cause one or both sides of the car stereo audio to drop out.

TECH NOTE - on one occasion, when the wires were not frayed, checking continuity of speaker wires from the car stereo to speaker we found a short in one wire somewhere along the side of the vehicle. We were unable to locate the specific short, we rewired the speaker. For car stereo connector configuration, see Wire Harness Diagrams.
