We have seen this problem twice here at the shop. We troubleshot to a broken connector on the rear speaker. The rear speaker is accessible from the trunk.

One day, not realizing it, you may have packed your trunk full and broke the connector.

This causes the connection intermittently touches the metal frame of the speaker, most metal in the car is ground. Shorts the output on the stereo and shuts all audio off for protection.

We use electrical tape to insulate the connection and wire ties to hold the connector in place. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to the wire from the connector into the speaker. At the same time, giving this wire enough play to move with the movement of the speaker without touching metal.

Amplifiers are usually  located under dash on passenger side behind black metal plate. Metal plate protects the amplifier from being kicked. Basic Toyota Previa stereos do not have amplifiers.
