Chevy Blazer How to Remove and Replace Front Door
Speaker |
|
1.1) Remove screw from door
handle trim plate. |
|
2.1) Grasp leading edge of door
handle trim plate. |
|
3.1) Pull trim plate forward
releasing rear clips. All clips release with pressure. |
|
4.1) Feed door handle trim plate
over door handle to remove and set panel to side. |
|
5.1) Place pry tool under edge
of door panel pin. |
|
6.1) Pry door panel pin from
door and set to side. |
|
7.1) Under arm rest, remove one
screw securing door panel to door. |
|
8.1) Under arm rest, remove
second screw securing door panel to door. |
|
Window Crank Removal
Note position of window crank before removal.
9.1) Place shop towel under window crank, between window
crank and plastic washer. |
|
10.1) Move shop towel back and
forth while pulling up on shop towel.
10.2) This may remove window crank clip, remove window crank. |
|
11.1) If shop towel does not
remove window crank clip, push plastic washer and door panel in to allow
for access to clip.
(These past three steps may make this look simple, actually it took about
10 minutes to work the clip from window crank) |

12.1) Remove window crank and
clip. |
|
13.1) Immediately place window
crank clip onto window crank. Window crank with clip will snap back into
place when reinstalling. Do you remember the window crank position? |
|
14.1) Remove window crank plastic
washer, set all to side. |
|
15.1) Place pry tool under top
edge corner of door panel. |
|
16.1) Pry top edge of panel back
to release panel clip. |
|
17.1) Place pry tool behind
bottom back edge of door panel. |
|
18.1) Pry door panel from door
releasing all clips.
18.2) Work your way across bottom of door panel then up front and back of
door panel releasing all clips. |
|
19.1) Pull bottom edge of door
panel away from door to allow door open handle to clear.
19.2) Pull top edge of door panel away from door, this panel pin was released
in an earlier step. |
|
20.1) Lift entire door panel up
out of window jam to remove. |
|
21.1) Check door for any
remaining door panel clips not removed with door panel. |
|
22.1) Pry door panel clips from
door to remove. |
|
23.1) Place door panel pins into
slots back onto door panel, ready for reinstallation.
23.2) When reinstalling door panel, be sure all panel pins line up with
opening in door before pushing panel back into place. |
|
24.1) Remove foam ring from
speaker covering speaker mounting screws. |
|
25.1) Remove speaker mounting
screws. |
|
26.1) Remove 6 1/2 inch speaker
from door. |
|
27.1) Release trigger on speaker
connector to disconnect. |
|
28.1) Unwrap several inches of
protective tape from speaker wires in door. |
|
29.1) Clip speaker connector from
speaker wire harness back about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. |
|
How to determine speaker phase
for proper hook up of aftermarket speaker.
1.1)
Strip wires on connector cut from previous step.
1.2) Place connector back onto removed speaker. |
|
2.1) Use a 1.5 volt battery for
the next step. |
|
3.1) Place battery between
spliced leads on speaker connector.
3.2) The speaker cone will pop and move in or out.
3.3) Turn battery to position that causes speaker cone to pop out.
3.4) When speaker cone pops out, note the color of the wire on the (+)
positive side of the battery. |
|
4.1) Back to speaker opening in
door.
4.2) Aftermarket speaker may provide a wires or a small piece of speaker
wire for installation.
4.3) Slice speaker wire onto factory wires remembering which wire was (+)
positive from the previous step. |
|
5.1) Connect speaker and
install.
Speaker phasing is important. Incorrect
speaker phasing will cause a loss of bass when listening to stereo. |
