Stereo Removal and Replacement |
|
1.1) Open glove box. |
|
2.1) Grasp passenger side fuse
box cover. |
|
3.1) Remove fuse box cover
releasing clips. Set panel to side. All clips release with pressure. |
|
4.1) Remove exposed screw. |
|
5.1) Open ash tray assembly.
NOTE - Ash tray cover is spring loaded and pops up. When
reinstalling front dash panel, be very careful, ash tray cover may get
stuck behind panel. Push cover down when reinstalling dash panel. |

6.1) Grasp driver side fuse
box cover. |
|
7.1) Remove fuse box cover
releasing clips. Set panel to side. |
|
8.1) Remove one exposed screw. |
|
9.1)From under dash, driver's
side, release two clips, lower panel to floor. |
|
10.1) Remove exposed screw from
bottom of panel next to hood release lever. |
|
11.1) Remove second lower screw
from same panel. |
|
12.1) Pull edge of panel from
dash releasing clip. |
|
13.1) From under steering column,
pull edge of panel forward from dash releasing clip. |
|
14.1) Pull top edge of panel down
for access to connector. |
|
15.1) Turn panel 180 degrees for
access to release trigger on connector, disconnect. |
|
16.1) Check removed panel for
missing clips. Locate clips on car. |
|
17.1) Pry clip to remove. |
|
18.1) Place clip back onto panel,
ready for reinstallation. |
|
19.1) Remove one exposed screw
from panel removal left of steering column. |
|
20.1) Remove two screws on dash
panel above gauges. |
|
21.1) Set parking brake, lower
steering column to down position.
NOTE - Now is a
good time to remove car key from key ring, have a single key ready for
ignition key slot. |

22.1) Pull down on dash trim
panel above gauges. |
|
23.1) While pulling down on dash
panel above gauges, pull left side of panel from dash releasing clips. |
|
24.1) Pull right side of dash
trim panel from dash releasing clips. |
|
25.1) Work your way across bottom
of dash trim panel releasing clips. |
|
26.1) Ignition key ring panel
will pop from dash when applying pressure for panel removal. Set key ring
panel to side. This panel will snap back into place when dash panel is
reinstalled. |
|
27.1) Set parking brake NOW, if
it was not set in an earlier step.
27.2) Insert single key into ignition, shift to low gear.
NOTE - Single key will allow panel to be removed over it,
watch clearance when removing panel. |
|
28.1) Pull entire dash panel from
dash. When pulling panel from dash, pull emergency flasher part of dash
straight back from dash. This is a long switch assembly and needs room to
clear upper dash.

|
29.1) Release trigger on
connector at emergency flasher to disconnect. |
|
30.1) Squeeze release clips on
sides of emergency flasher assembly while pushing through front of dash
panel. |
|
31.1) Feed emergency flasher
assembly through front of dash panel. |
|
32.1) Remove emergency flasher
assembly from panel.
NOTE - Emergency flasher
assembly will be reinstalled after dash panel. |
|
33.1) Lift left side of dash trim
panel up over steering column. |
|
34.1) Remove entire panel from
dash and set to side.
34.2) Check panel for missing clips. |
|
35.1) Pry remaining clips from
dash, reinstall on panel ready for reinstallation. |
|
NOTE - While removing dash
panel, we had the head light trim panel release. |
|
36.1) Install right side of head
light trim panel into slot. |
|
37.1) Snap left side of head
light trim panel into place. |
|
38.1) Remove three screws
securing car stereo to dash. |
|
39.1) Pull car stereo from dash. |
|
40.1) Remove antenna and release
triggers on connectors to disconnect. |
|
41.1) During reinstallation, feed
emergency flasher connector through opening in dash panel.
41.2) Watch spring loaded cover on ash tray so it does not get caught behind
panel.
41.3) Watch key in ignition for clearance. |
|
42.1) The corners of dash trim
panel were a little tricky during installation. They required a little
pressure to have them clear the upper dash trim and set in place.
42.2) Connect emergency flasher assembly and push into opening until it locks
into place. |
