Mustang Rear Side Panel Speaker Removal
and Installation |
|
DO NOT
Pry Rear Speaker Cover from Side Panel this will result in a broken
speaker grill cover. |
|
1.1) Lift rear
bottom seat cushion up from center of passenger side leading edge,
releasing clip. Clip releases with upward pressure. |
|
2.1) Lift rear
bottom seat cushion up from center of driver side leading edge, releasing
clip. |
|
3.1) Lift leading
edge of bottom seat cushion up, release seat belts through seat. |
|
4.1) Remove bottom
seat cushion from car and set to side. |
|
5.1) At bottom of
passenger side rear seat back corner, remove one bolt. |
|
6.1) At bottom of
driver side rear seat back corner, remove one bolt. |
|
7.1) Lift rear seat
back cushion straight up. This will release two hooks from slots, one on
each side of seat. |
|
8.1) Pull outside
top edges of rear seat back forward, push rear seat back down to release
center hook. |
|
9.1) Remove rear
seat back cushion from car and set to side. |
|
10.1) Access to rear
amplifiers, located each side of hydraulic pump for convertible roof. |
|
11.1) Open both
doors, gently cry cover from door jam. |
|
12.1) Release cover
from door jam. |
|
13.1) Check door jam
for any remaining clips not removed with panel. |
|
14.1) Gently pry clip
from door jam to remove. |
|
15.1) Place clip back
onto door jam panel, ready for reinstallation. |
|
16.1) At bottom edge
of side panel, below lower speaker grill, pry panel pin up to remove. |
|
17.1) Along back
lower edge of side panel, pry behind panel at clip to release clip. |
|
18.1) Along back
upper edge of side panel, pry behind panel at clip to release clip. |
|
19.1) At back edge of
side panel, along opening for convertible roof, gently pry panel clip to
remove. |
|
20.1) At leading edge
of side panel in door jam, pry behind rubber panel to release two clips. |
|
21.1) Pull side
rubber panel back when removing side panel to keep clips from resetting in
side panel. |
|
22.1) Remove seat
belt from mount on front seat.
22.2) Move front seat forward along with seat back for better access to rear
seat. |
|
23.1) Gently pull
upper edge of side panel from side of car to release. |
|
24.1) Pull side panel
forward to release clips and lip on panel from door jam. |
|
25.1) Pull seat belt
strap from mechanism for excess. |
|
26.1) Lay side panel
to back seat. |
|
27.1) Remove screws
securing speaker to side speaker enclosure.
NOTE - for determining
aftermarket installation polarity of speaker for correct hook up see Speaker Phasing above. |

28.1) When
reinstalling side panel, small lip on side of panel fits into groove below
side weather stripping. |
