Lexus LS430 How to Remove Rear Deck
Subwoofer
Rear subwoofer
sounds distorted at higher volumes. Continue through following steps to
visually inspect subwoofer for damage. |

1.1) Pry left forward edge of
subwoofer speaker grill releasing clip. All clips release with pressure. |
|
2.1) Pry left back edge of
subwoofer speaker grill releasing clip. |
|
3.1) Pry right forward edge of
subwoofer speaker grill releasing clip. |
|
4.1) Pry right back edge of
subwoofer speaker grill releasing clip. |
|
5.1) Remove subwoofer speaker
grill and set to side. |
|
6.1) Examine foam surround on
subwoofer. |
|
7.1) Closer inspection, foam
surround has separated from frame. This causes distorted sound.
Note - This speaker can be repaired at a fraction of the
cost of a new replacement from the dealership. Check your local yellow
pages. |

Removing Rear Deck

8.1) Driver's side, rear seat,
grasp front edge of seat. |
|
9.1) Lift rear seat cushion up
to release locking clip. |
|
10.1) Passenger's side rear
seat, lift cushion to release clip. |
|
11.1) Lift entire front edge
of rear seat cushion up, pull slightly forward from rear seat back. |
|
12.1) With rear seat bottom
cushion separated from rear seat back locate connector on passenger side. |
|
13.1) Squeeze trigger into
connector to unlock. |
|
14.1) Release connectors. |
|
15.1) Driver's side, locate
connector. |
|
16.1) Release trigger on
connector to disconnect. |
|
17.1) Lift seat cushion up,
remove from vehicle and set to side. |
|
18.1) Driver's side, bottom of
rear back seat cushion, remove on bolt. |
|
19.1) Move across bottom of
rear seat back cushion and remove next screw. |
|
20.1) Move across bottom of
rear seat back cushion and remove next screw. |
|
21.1) Move across bottom of
rear seat back cushion and remove final screw. |
|
22.1) Lift driver's side head
rest cushion. |
|
23.1) Pry exposed cap from
seat back. |
|
24.1) Remove exposed bolt. |
|
25.1) Lift passenger's side
head rest cushion. |
|
26.1) Pry exposed cap from
seat back. |
|
27.1) Remove exposed bolt. |
|
28.1) Pull center arm rest
cushion down. |
|
29.1) With age, plastic arm
rest frame sticks to sides of rear seat cushion. Place your hand into
openings on both sides of frame to separate side cushion and arm rest
frame. |
|
30.1) Grasp edge of arm rest
frame and pull forward. |
|
31.1) Work up edge of frame to
top to release clips. |
|
32.1) Pull arm rest frame
forward. |
|
33.1) Allow frame and pass
through door to rest on arm rest. |
|
34.1) (Picture taken through
rear window) Passenger's side, seat belt restraint along top of seat back,
use small flat head screw, place into small opening. |
|
35.1) Release trigger and pull
end of seat belt restraint up to release. |
|
36.1) Feed seat belt through
opening to remove from restraint.
36.2) Repeat process for driver's side seat belt restraint. |
|
37.1) Pull bottom of rear seat
cushion away from rear of vehicle. |
|
38.1) Pull top of rear seat
cushion away from rear of vehicle to release rear seat back. |
|
39.1) Pull released rear seat
back forward. |
|
40.1) Feed released rear seat
belts around outside edges of rear seat to rest behind seat. |
|
41.1) Before removing rear
seat, locate connector at bottom corner of rear seat back. |
|
42.1) Release trigger on
connector to disconnect and remove.
42.2) Remove rear seat back from vehicle and set to side. |
|
43.1) Remove exposed clips
along front edge of rear deck panel. |
|
44.1) Pry under edge of rear
deck panel to remove clips easier. |
|
45.1) Remove all clips along
front edge of rear deck panel. |
|
46.1) Pry trim panel at rear
seat belt from rear deck releasing clips. |
|
47.1) Slide trim panel down
seat belt. |
|
48.1) Pry plastic cover from
rear deck and remove. |
|
49.1) Pry plastic cover from
center of rear deck and remove. |
|
50.1) Pry third plastic cover
from rear deck and remove. |
|
51.1) Pry trim panel at rear
seat belt from rear deck releasing clips. |
|
52.1) Slide trim panel down
seat belt. |
|
53.1) Front edge of rear deck
panel is behind side panel. |
|
54.1) Push edge of side panel
toward outside of vehicle. |
|
55.1) Pull edge or rear deck
panel forward. |
|
56.1) Repeat for opposite side
of vehicle. |
|
57.1) Right back edge of rear
deck panel meets side panel, push rear deck panel down at edge. |
|
58.1) Side panel has tab that
mate to rear deck panel, while pushing down on rear deck panel, push tab
out of slot to release rear deck panel. |
|
59.1) Left back edge of rear
deck panel meets side panel, push rear deck panel down at edge. |
|
60.1) Side panel has tab that
mate to rear deck panel, while pushing down on rear deck panel, push tab
out of slot to release rear deck panel. |
|
61.1) Lift front edge of rear
deck panel up. |
|
62.1) Lift center of panel up
for access below rear brake light at center of rear deck panel. |
|
63.1) Release trigger on
center brake light assembly to disconnect and remove connector. |
|
64.1) Slide rear deck panel
from rear deck and down to rear seat cushion position. |
|
65.1) At edge of subwoofer,
release trigger on connector. |
|
66.1) Disconnect and remove
connector. |
|
67.1) Remove bolts securing
subwoofer to rear deck. |
|
68.1) Remove subwoofer from
rear deck. |
|
69.1) When reinstalling rear
deck panel, locate hooks along back edge of panel. |
|
70.1) Locate slot along rear
deck, hooks mate to openings when reinstalling. |
|
71.1) Familiarize yourself
with the location of the rear brake light connector before reinstalling
rear deck panel. |
