Removing and Installing Car Stereo

"Din Tools"

Din Tools can be purchased at a local Auto Parts Store. They are Ford Car Stereo removal tools.

How to remove car radio, speakers and amplifiers 1.1) Insert "Din Tools" into slots till they lock into sides of car stereo.
1.2) Pull car stereo from dash.
Removing and Installing Car Stereo 2.1) Remove antenna and release triggers on connectors to disconnect.
How to remove car radio, speakers and amplifiers 3.1) There is no aftermarket kit needed for this install. However, you do need the Metra Wire Harness that includes the Amplifier Bypass Cable, Wire Harness number 70-5514.
Removing and Installing Car Stereo 4.1) Splice provide aftermarket car stereo wire harness together with Metra wire harness. Wire color codes in most cases match color for color. Saving the head ache of attempting to figure out the factory wire harness, cutting and splicing to factory harness. All extra wires should be capped off for protections from shorting out.
How to remove car radio, speakers and amplifiers 5.1) Remove metal sleeve from aftermarket car stereo by releasing clips and slide from car stereo.
Removing and Installing Car Stereo 6.1) Insert sleeve into dash car stereo opening.
How to remove car radio, speakers and amplifiers 7.1) With a flat head screw driver, bend tabs on sleeve to secure sleeve to dash.
Removing and Installing Car Stereo 8.1) Pull factory wire harness from cavity for access.
8.2) Connect car stereo wire harness with Metra wire harness to factory harness.
How to remove car radio, speakers and amplifiers 9.1) Connect aftermarket wire harness to car stereo and slide car stereo into sleeve.
Removing and Installing Car Stereo 10.1) Push car stereo into sleeve until it locks into place.

Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 1.1) For better access, remove cover from spare tire.
Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 2.1) Loosen nut securing spare tire.
Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 3.1) Remove spare tire.
3.2) In some cases, pull panel down from back of rear seat for access to Premium Sound Amplifier.
Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 4.1) Release triggers on connectors to remove from Premium Sound Amplifier.
Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 5.1) Remove connectors, one from each side of amplifier.
Amplifier Bypass Cable Installation 6.1) Insert connectors removed from amplifier into Amplifier Bypass Cable.
6.2) Test operation of car stereo.

How to Remove and Install Speakers 1.1) Grip rear of speaker grill cover with finder tips.
How to Remove and Install Speakers 2.1) Lift rear of speaker grill up, front of speaker grill hinges up to release.
How to Remove and Install Speakers 3.1) Remove four screws securing 6 X 9 car stereo speaker to rear deck panel.
How to Remove and Install Speakers 4.1) Lift rear 6 X 9 speaker from rear deck. Disconnect connector and remove.
