How to Remove and Replace Rear Speakers |

Speaker Removal and Installation |
|
1.1) From trunk, release both
rear seat backs. |
|
2.1) Inside of trunk, bottom
or rear package shelf at center of rear seat release assembly, gently pry
side of lock away from edge of car. |
|
3.1) Gently pry opposite side
of lock away from edge of car. |
|
4.1) Release rear seat latch
assembly for bottom of rear package shelf. |
|
5.1) Set assembly to floor of
trunk. |
|
6.1) Fold rear seat
backs down. |
|
7.1) At rear seat lock
assembly driver's side, remove one screw along back of seat. |
|
8.1) Remove second screw at
lock assembly. |
|
9.1) Passenger's side rear
seat lock assembly, remove one screw. |
|
10.1) Remove second screw at
lock assembly.
10.2) Push rear seats back up, do not lock into position.
Note - Possibly during the removal process you may lock the
rear seat back into position. Hold base assembly in trunk and pull cables
to release rear seat backs. |

11.1) Grasp bottom front edge
of rear seat cushion driver's side. |
|
12.1) Pull cushion up to
release locking clip. All clips release with pressure. |
|
13.1) Grasp bottom front edge
of rear seat cushion passenger's side. |
|
14.1) Pull cushion up to
release locking clip. All clips release with pressure. |
|
15.1) Pull front edge or rear
seat cushion up. |
|
16.1) Remove rear bottom seat
cushion from car and set to side. |
|
17.1) Locate plastic cover
along front edge of rear bottom seat cushion frame driver's side. |
|
18.1) With screwdriver, gently
pry edge of plastic cover away from mounting bracket. |
|
19.1) Remove exposed mounting
bolt. |
|
20.1) Edge of plastic cover
will release. |
|
21.1) Remove plastic cover. |
|
22.1) Plastic cover has two
locks. Prying edge of cover away from center of cover release locks. |
|
23.1) Passenger's side, with
screwdriver, gently pry edge of plastic cover away from mounting bracket
to release. |
|
24.1) Remove plastic cover. |
|
25.1) Remove exposed mounting
bolt. |
|
26.1) Along bottom edge of
rear seat back, passenger's side, remove one mounting bolt at seat belt
strap. |
|
27.1) Remove bolt and release
seat belt strap. |
|
28.1) Fold seat belt strap and
place onto rear package shelf. |
|
29.1) Along bottom edge of
rear seat back, remove bolt. |
|
30.1) Remove seat belt straps
from screw and set to side. |
|
31.1) Along bottom edge of
rear seat back, remove second bolt. |
|
32.1) Release seat belt strap
from screw. |
|
33.1) Fold seat belt strap and
place onto rear package shelf. |
|
34.1) Along bottom edge of
rear seat back, driver's side, remove one mounting bolt at seat belt
strap. |
|
35.1) Remove bolt and release
seat belt strap.
35.2) Fold seat belt strap and place onto rear package shelf. |
|
36.1) Grasp bottom front edge
of frame assembly. |
|
37.1) Hinge frame assembly
back toward rear seat cushions. |
|
38.1) Lift entire rear seat
frame and cushions up to release over two center mounting bolts. |
|
39.1) Remove rear seat
cushions and frame from car.
Note - This may be a
two person job, be careful, frame may scratch door panels on the way out. |
|
40.1) Bottom part of frame is
flimsy, you may have to bend back in place if not remove from car with
help. |
|
41.1) Driver's side, side
panel at door jam, middle back edge of panel, pry under panel at clip to
release. |
|
42.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
43.1) Bottom edge of side
panel, pry behind panel to release clip. |
|
44.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
45.1) Side panel where it
meets bottom door jam panel, pry up on front edge of panel. |
|
46.1) Lift edge of panel up to
release from lower door jam panel. |
|
47.1) Pull lower edge of side
panel up away from lower door jam panel. |
|
48.1) When reinstalling side
panel, tab at bottom edge of panel fits into slot on lower door jam panel. |
|
49.1) Push side panel toward
front of car. |
|
50.1) Panel will release from
clip through slot. |
|
51.1) Remove panel and set to
side. |
|
52.1) Pry front edge of small
cover from rear side panel. |
|
53.1) Swing cover open. |
|
54.1) Remove exposed screw. |
|
55.1) Grasp bottom edge of
side panel and pull to release lower clip.
55.2) Work up front edge of panel releasing second clip. |
|
56.1) Slide your arm down back
side of panel toward clips, push panel away from side of car to release. |
|
57.1) When reinstalling rear
side panel. guide (at thumb) mates to hole (at finger) in side of car. |
|
58.1) Grasp edge of side panel
and pull up to release from rear package shelf.
58.2) Remove panel and set to side. |
|
59.1) Rear side panel has two
tongues along bottom edge of panel. |
|
60.1) Rear side panel tongues
mate to two openings in rear deck panel, align tongues when reinstalling. |
|
61.1) Pry remaining clip from
rear side panel. |
|
62.1) Remove clip and set to
side for reinstallation. |
|
63.1) When reinstalling rear
side panel, pull edge of weather stripping from behind panel. |
|
64.1) When reinstalling lower
side panel, install clip (removed in step 62) to secure panel when holes
match up. |
|
65.1) Passenger's side, side
panel at door jam, middle back edge of panel, pry under panel at clip to
release. |
|
66.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
67.1) Bottom edge of side
panel, pry behind panel to release clip. |
|
68.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
69.1) Side panel where it
meets bottom door jam panel, pry up on front edge of panel. |
|
70.1) Pull lower edge of side
panel up away from lower door jam panel. |
|
71.1) When reinstalling side
panel, tab at bottom edge of panel fits into slot on lower door jam panel. |
|
72.1) Push side panel toward
front of car.
72.2) Panel will release from clip through slot. |
|
73.1) Remove panel and set to
side. |
|
74.1) Pry front edge of small
cover from rear side panel. |
|
75.1) Swing cover open. |
|
76.1) Remove exposed screw. |
|
77.1) Grasp bottom edge of
side panel and pull to release lower clip. |
|
78.1) Work up front edge of
panel releasing second clip. |
|
79.1) Slide your arm down back
side of panel toward clips, push panel away from side of car to release. |
|
80.1) When reinstalling rear
side panel. guide (at thumb) mates to hole (at finger) in side of car. |
|
81.1) Grasp edge of side panel
and pull up to release from rear package shelf. |
|
82.1) Rear side panel has two
tongues along bottom edge of panel.
82.2) Remove panel and set to side. |
|
83.1) Rear side panel has two
tongues along bottom edge of panel.
83.2) Rear side panel tongues mate to two openings in rear deck panel,
align tongues when reinstalling. |
|
84.1) Pry remaining clip from
rear side panel. |
|
85.1) Remove clip and set to
side for reinstallation. |
|
86.1) When reinstalling rear
side panel, pull edge of weather stripping from behind panel. |
|
87.1) When reinstalling lower
side panel, install clip (removed in step 85) to secure panel when holes
match up. |
|
88.1) Along front edge of rear
deck panel passenger's side, pry behind edge of panel to release clip. |
|
89.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
90.1) Along front edge of rear
deck panel driver's side, pry behind edge of panel to release clip. |
|
91.1) Remove clip and set to
side. |
|
92.1) Passenger's side, lift
bottom edge of front panel to allow seat belt strap to pass through
opening and release from rear deck panel. |
|
93.1) Center seat belt strap,
lift bottom edge of front panel to allow seat belt strap to pass through
opening and release from rear deck panel. |
|
94.1) Driver's side, lift
bottom edge of front panel to allow seat belt strap to pass through
opening and release from rear deck panel. |
|
95.1) Grasp front edge of rear
deck panel. |
|
96.1) Lift edge of panel up to
allow plastic covers on rear deck tie downs to clear tie down mounts. |
|
97.1) Pull rear deck panel
toward front of car. |
|
98.1) Remove rear deck panel
and set to side. |
|
99.1) Reach through rear seat
opening into trunk to bottom of rear speakers. |
|
100.1) Release trigger on
connector to disconnect.
100.2) Disconnect both rear speaker connectors. |
|
101.1) Remove first screw
securing speaker to rear deck. |
|
102.1) Remove second screw
securing speaker to rear deck. |
|
103.1) Remove third screw
securing speaker to rear deck. |
|
104.1) Remove fourth screw
securing speaker to rear deck. |
|
105.1) Lift rear speaker from
rear deck. |
|
106.1) Remove rear 6 x 9
speaker. |
